Further to recent developments, where the North Wales Police have stated that paragliding is allowed to take place as a sport, as long as you are local and practicing social distancing.

The SSS committee have discussed the situation and are contacting the BHPA to try and clarify the matter for Wales. As soon as we get any further information we will post it here.

However all our sites remain closed, regardless of what the NWP have said, the Welsh government have not changed the general aviation status, so it is illegal to fly in Wales until they do so.

Please be aware that if you do fly you may not be covered by the BHPA insurance and probably not other insurances such as life and earnings cover until the BHPA give an official affirmation. It is also illegal to enter the areas of the national park that are currently shut to launch. Some sites are particularly sensitive, Foel Lus, Moel Winion as an example, even more so in this instance and the possibility of losing one or multiple sites is a real possibility. Please act responsibly at all times.
